Sorry. Let me clarify that. It runs fine with 1GB memory in everything
including real DOS, Linux, W98SE.

It's when you set the RAM sticks in the Dual Channel configuration. On
my mobo w/4 DDR slots for RAM, dual channel is enabled when you use
two identical RAM sticks in Slot 1 & 3, Slot 2 & 4, or all 4 slots. If
you put them in Slot 1 & 2 then you get one GB memory, but not the dual
channel enhancement

No the memory is fine. They are *identical*, same model and serial
number bought at the same time. If they are not identical on boot it
will not report "Dual Channel Enabled".

Like I said, runs fine with 1GB as long as it's not in a Dual Channel
setup as outlined above.
