Edit the OS2.INI section "PM_SystemFonts" and add a new key called
"DefaultFont". Set its value to a font spec, e.g. "8.Helv" and
then reboot.
Warning: this will change the default dialog unit size throughout your
system. Any dialog that uses the system font should scale to match the
new font and should look OK. Any dialog that uses a hardcoded font
(most 3rd-party software, or any system with Dialog Enhancer) will also
get re-scaled, and may end up looking really weird and/or cropped.
For this reason, a lot of people don't recommend using this trick.
(For some reason, DBCS versions use a slightly different key name which
seems to work more smoothly.)
An alternative is to use a desktop enhancer that replaces the system font
without changing the DU size. Object Desktop used to be able to do this.
Styler/2 can also do it.
IMO the best alternative is to use Styler/2 in conjunction with Dialog
Enhancer (no longer sold).
