A few days ago I booted a box with a mixture of 3 JFS
partitions on 2 disks and 3 HPFS partitions to find that
none of the JFS partitions were readable. I don't remember
doing anything unusual when I shut it down the day before.
I can read/write to all 3 partitions if I boot to the
maintenance console using the install CD.
Running CHKDSK /F from the console shows no problem nor
does LVM or DFSEE.
Booting normally from the hard drive, chkdsk runs and
again shows no problems but all 3 JFS partitions are
unreadable with the GUI or from the command line once
the system is fully up.
Dir from the command line gives sys0026.
FWIW all the HPFS partitions are ok.
Again running LVM or DFSEE shows no problems as far as
I can see. Even a read scan with DFSEE was ok.
The HPFS partitions contain eCS 1.2 & 1.1 and both have
the same problem.
Anyone seen anything like this before?
JFS.IFS line in config.sys and boot the machine, then run jfschk32.exe/f
on each. Two important things: jfschk32 /f must be used, and you must
not have JFS driver loaded (the drives mounted). If either is not met,
then jfschk32 will not fix the problem and may say that the disks are dirty.
Nope, same effect as running it from the command line by catching it at
the boot blob. Everything checks out perfectly, but it doesn't work.
As I said in my earlier post, I no longer think that it is only a JFS
problem since it also affects my FAT16 SADUMP partition which I missed
originally since it reported roughly the right amount of free space;-(
