I'm using the patched Flash files with npSWF32.dll R14
Good news, I think :-)
The culprit finally disguised itself:

NPWV.DLL
After renaming
23.05.06 13.10 96.329 3.110 a--- npwv.dll
in my \plugins\ directory, both previously not working Flash clips now
finally
work here as well :-)
NPWV.DLL is the Warpvision plugin that comes bundled in newer versions
of Warpvision. I've never gotten the Warpvision plugin to do anything
useful
neither did I :-(
so I don't install the plugin,
I just kept on updating it, when the new WV 1.0GA and 1.0.1 became available.
though I do use Warpvision to play
video and DVDs.
.... but that actually also might be the reason, why my system got locked up
every time, when the MediaPlayerConnectivity extension tried to start WV to
play a file/stream.
But I never got any further than the WV cmd line window opening up, reporting
a few lines of what was just going on and then my system ground to a halt,
forcing a cold reboot.
I'm curious now to see, if that also changes the next time :-\
