Curiously, an old utility from MDOS may help you!

I have a folder on my C drive that has one file in it. I'm unable to delete it. It has some strange, possibly cyrillic, characters in it (Q3CDݢ2F.nws) so I'm unable to rename it. The Shredder will not remove the file or the folder. I cannot move it to another partition.
It is not "read only" or "system". It's a .nws file which I think is a newsgroup file.
When I attempt to move it to another partition I get the message "The path C: cannot be found. Be sure the drive is correct."

I would like to get rid of this folder. Anyone have any ideas of what
I might try next?

If this file is in a subdirectory, you can copy everything else other than this file to a temporary directory. Then you can use the File Freedom OS/2 utility toolset, if needed, to clean out any attributes which might prevent you from deleting it by simply resetting them with it. Yes, I know you said this was not an issue, but I'm just covering the bases. Then, from a DOS-VDM window session, you can normally use the old DOS utility:

9-30-93 6:20a 11111 0 DELTREE.EXE

This is not a good idea in OS/2 as it leaves the WPS references in place, ie. orphaned.
With "wptools" from Hobbes and Rexx you can get the object handle for this file
and delete it with Rexx sysdeleteobject.

You are correct. What I should have posted also is that AFTER I've done this I also go in with Unimaint and/or WPT and clean that up as well. I've never tried to do this with those tools on a hand selected basis with them. But I can see what you are suggesting as to how to do this.

Thanks.
