I must have more patience: I recently used kermit to upload some 10-15
megabyte files at about one Megabyte per 6-7 minutes; I just started it
and went to bed!

For transferring files between adjacent machines, I routinely use a little
program whose name don't remember (but it's at home on my laptop, and I'll
try to remember to look it up this evening) that, when installed on two
DOS machines (I've only tried in on "real" DOS: 6.20 and 6.22), turns one
machine into a server and the other into a client via the serial port
(115 Kbaud), and ALL of the usual DOS commands (copy, dir, etc.) on the
client function through the serial cable just (except a bit slower, of
course!) as if a disk on the server were connected to the client.
And it runs IN THE BACKGROUND on the server, too!

I tried INTERLNK and several other freebies, but the one I described was
the only one that really worked. About a month ago I transferred the
ENTIRE contents of a 500-meg disk from one machine to another (taking
several nights; I did it one root-directory at a time and went to bed).

YMMV; may or may not work under the so-called "DOS" that Windoze supplies.
