Ohh here i found this somewhere.... It seems to be missing some info, but this is how you install autoexec.nt if you are missing it. http://montcs.bloomu.edu/~bobmon/Software_Tools/autoexec_nt.shtml

Sounds like there is something wrong with autoexec.nt i don't remember when or what but i do remember having 16 bit application problems on xp before and having it boil down to autoexec.nt... it's like autoexec.bat is for windows 9x in case you were wondering. Here's what i have in mine...xpsp2 i cut out all the remarks.
REM Install CD ROM extensions
lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe
REM Install network redirector (load before dosx.exe)

REM Install DPMI support

Hi;
Everytime I try to use the gcc compiler in a MS-DOS window I get
the following error message in a message box:
[Message box caption]
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
[Error message]
Command Prompt - gcc
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not
suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
Chose 'Close' to terminate the application.
I gave the FAQ a look but couldn't find anything related to that. Or
maybe it escaped me.
My system is a AMD-64 3300+ running Windows XP. I have the latest
GCC suite installed.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!
