Re: I have a MIDI Recorder

The cheap way is to use the wave recorder buildt into your computer
software, and your sound card. Plug a dynamic mic into your soundcards
mic input. In windows xp, click on start, slide to all programs, then
accessories, then entertainment and thin left click on sound recorder
Other versions of windows have a sound recorder or wave recorder,
located approximately in the same area.
..
If you have a mac, you will need to ask a mac person.
This will only make 1 track recordings.

If you want to make music for others to listen to on the internet, then
a mp3 recorder program would be good to get. Get a free one at
www.musicmatch.com

Again this is 1 track music.

If you want to be able to record a track, and then add another track,
then one of the low cost midi sequencers would be good to get, even
though you do not want to record midi.
They also allow you to record audio, and you can record a track, and
then listen to it with ear phones while you add additional track.
Power tracks pro is a good low cost one, about $50 from www.pgmusic.com
You will be able to record midi if you ever want to do so, and there
are some good reasons to record in midi, as it allows very easy edits
of the music, which an audio track is not going to be so easy to edit.

You can always record in midi, then play the song and record it as
audio
..
An audio interface will be required if you want to connect directly
from audio outputs to your line inputs on your sound card. This will
cost about $100
zzounds.com has some.

Alternatively, you can skip the audio interface, and get a mixer with
line out on it which you will connect to line in on the sound card.
Small mixers that allow quite a few instruments and mics to be
connected at same time start out at about $300.

You could also get by with a cheaper mixer as long as it has line out,
such as a mic mixer and would cost around $50 -$100

There are also programs made just for recording audio, but many of them
do not allow vst plugins, so I recommend you get a midi sequencer
program instead.
The plugins, allow you to create audio effects such as reverb, filters,
etc.
There are lots of them for free, and also for sale. Go to
www.google.com and enter vst or dxi as search words.

If the mixer you use does not have line out, then you need to buy an
audio interface that conditions the audio signal recorded directly from
keyboards, etc, into a level suitable for your soundcards input level.
If you do not use the interface, you risk damage to hearing, soundcard
and speakers if anyone slides the volume up on one of the instruments.

What is an inexpensive why to record existing instruments, non midi, on

I have old Keyboards and a guitar with 0 midi., Is there software-an
interface?
