The only thing that I can think of that is transparent like you want is LDAP routing.

However, I think LDAP routing is going to require some form of support on the site A end.

So, you say LDAP routing...i never faced this sendmail feature.
I am a little unsettled, it seems I will have to study a lot of other
stuff in that cf/README& Co. .

If you don't have support at site A, it will always deliver messages for John and Sarah to mailboxes at it's end. Thus you will end up with mail for John and Sarah sitting on both sites.

I suppose that you could have John and Sarah check their box at both sites, but that's just going to get weird.
