In order to reduce the delay the users receive their registration code,
we would like to add several IPs to the machine that hosts our web
server. What we want to achieve is that whenever an IP gets blocked for
some reason, another will still be able to deliver the mail within a
reasonable delay.
You are looking for a technical solution to an administrative
problem. I think it would be far more productive to talk to AOL, Yahoo
and Hotmail and convince them that you are legitimate than to try to
subvert the normal routing tables used by your OS's TCP stack.
I've found that it is possible to declare several IPs to sendmail
through CLIENT_PORT_OPTIONS. What I don't understand is how sendmail
will select an IP to contact a given ISP and how another IP could be
used automatically when necessary?
This is not a Sendmail issue. You'd have to use advanced routing features
of your OS.
