cd /path/to/your/sendmail/source
patch -p1 < /path/to/patch
../configure ...

and after compiling and installing, then modify your sendmail.mc/cf according
to the instructions in the README.


I would also like the smtp server to store messages in a
mysql database. Message retrieval would be from an imap server that
invokes a php script to make a list out of certain messages in the
database.

You could make procmail to store the mail i the database, the problem would be
to get the mail out, you would need to hack the IMAP software you are using,
otherwise the mail would be unreachable.
