Do I Need a Sub-domain?

Hi there,
My company has a registered Internet domain name for mycompany.com with
correct MX records, and my email system is working well with
user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Now, I am setting up a mailing list server called mailinglist.mycompany.com,
and I want customers to send emails to subscriber@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Do I need to create a sub-domain called mailinglist.mycompany.com with MX
records for it?
Or, how could I redirect emails subscriber@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to
server mailinglist.mycompany.com, instead of mailing to my current corporate
email server?
Thanks,
Ross
