Getting confused with relaying (sendmail 8.11.6)

Hi --

I'd like to set up a particular type of relay, but so far what I've read is
just confusing me.

I have a domain whose MX record points to mail.server.com. Right now,
mail.server.com is receiving and storing all incoming mail. It is a RH Linux
server running sendmail 8.11.6.

I want mail.server.com to relay all incoming mail for the domain to
mail2.server.com. (I will set up mail2.server.com to accept incoming mail
only from mail.server.com.)

The idea is to have mail.server.com handle RBL processing and other such
functions, and only pass "good" mail down to mail2.server.com. User
validation would be performed on mail2.server.com.

There is also the possibility that mail2.server.com might be temporarily
unavailable at times.

How do I set up such a relay? Where can I find docs or other info to help
with this?

Thanks,
CL
