Not if you use something like SGI's XFS where the directory is
stored in a B-tree structure. Then, you can have a 100,000 files and
not have a performance issue. However, I'm not aware of FreeBSD having
anything like this, so there will be performance issues there. Note:
FreeBSD doesn't use ext2/3, it uses FFS2.
