Inserting images within text

I still have not looked to see how pine's messages, with image attachments
are presented within a gui mail client like Outlook. I presume the
attachments are shown at the end of the message, with titles, and one
has to click on them to open them?
Anyway, an old question I am sure: Gui clients allow one to place images at
appropriate places within the text of a message, much like what can be done
with an html page.
One way to do this in pine, is to send one's entire message as an html
attachment. Is there any other way, I do not know of? Is there another
format besides html (email version of rich text?) that will display
an emailed message as text intersperced with images?
