i finally made it to use pine to retrieve my mails from @gmx.net account via pop.gmx.net. now i cannot send mails using pine using smtp=mail.gmx.net, because it somehow is always using 'mail.gmx.de' as host. what is wrong???? i double checked that my .pinerc has smtp=mail.gmx.net written, yet no luck. is there another config file i should look for??

If you look up the DNS names of those two systems you will get the same IP address back for each. There really is only one system with two names, at least that's the way it looks from here.
