Cygwin mutt, . not mapped, no good biff program?

Hello all,
At work I'm stuck using Windows. I was recently given a new computer
and moved my e-mail from Thurderbird to mutt on cygwin. Moving my
muttrc, fetchmailrc, and procmailrc from home I was able to quickly get
it up and running and all is good. I'm very happy with the setup, but
there are two things that I'd like to resolve.
First, I need some kind of biff program! I can't seem to find a
Windows program that can monitor mbox files! xbiff takes too much
space on the screen and only monitors one mailbox (please don't suggest
multiple instances!) I'd really like to find a tray app that monitors
the boxes, but can't. I tried to get gbuffy to compile, but it was
complaining about some gtk library and I didn't really feel like
messing with it.
Secondly... the '.' key (list mailboxes with new mail) isn't mapped in
the windows version, and I can't figure out how it's mapped on my
Debian box... it seems to be a built in feature. I'm running version
1.4.2.1i with +BUFFY_SIZE enabled at compile time.
Thanks!
