I having some trouble with my work email. We have a Scalix server and
I am using outlook 2000, and my email is set up through IMAP.

Randomly, I am unable to login. What happens when try to download my
imap folders or press send and receive is that the login box comes up
with my password filled in but the remember password box not checked.
When I enter my password it comes right back up. I can enter my
password a million times without success.

Without more information from Outlook I can't see how it's possible to
fix this, because it's hard to know exactly what's going wrong. You
may need Microsoft's help figuring out how to get that information
from Outlook. Perhaps try searching through their knowledgebase.

By the way, what do you mean by "download my imap folders"? IMAP
folders aren't typically "downloaded".

yeah, that poster must be crazy. Nobody has even seen a amail client load
a list of remote folder then start to download messages and or headers,
keeping a version that is usable offline on the client machine.

Wow, that would be a cool feature to have!

I know that my imap folders are still available because I can send
email without problems!

Sending mail doesn't use IMAP, ever, so success in sending mail
probably doesn't mean anything so far as your problem is concerned.

In the past I have "fixed" by switching security setting on and off
and reinstalling the account.

This makes it sound like an Outlook problem, not an IMAP problem, in
which case you'll need to get help elsewhere.

I can't get help from IT because their line is that using other
clients through IMAP is "not possible". They want me to use the web
client and only the web client. What I have been able to learn about
Scalix is that it can be set up as POP or IMAP easily, it depends on
the user's permissions. If I bug them again, they'll just change my
permissions.

If they're trying to stop you using Outlook, I don't blame
them. Perhaps you should try a different email client. If it works,
you know for sure the problem is with Outlook and not your IMAP server
at all.

I think this is an imap problem, not an scalix problem because I have
had the same problem with my Netscape email at home. For the life of
me I can't remember how i fixed it.

My guess is that it's an Outlook problem, but that's just a guess
because you haven't provided enough information to know for sure
what's going on.

Cheers,
