problems in fetching mails from an imap server, using fetchmail + procmail



Hi,

I'm at a new computer environment, and encounter problems I had not seen at
my old env.

The setting is, that I want to fetch my email via

fetchmail from an

imap-server and use

procmail to split the emails according to my criteria.

The emails are supposed to be split into mbox folders (which I then slurp
in using emacs-gnus).



Currently, that does not really work, perhaps there are a couple of
contributing factors. For instance ultimately, if I fetch 3 emails from the
imap server, they appear in my email client as _one_ chunk, i.e., the
borders between the different emails are not respected. I'm not sure
whether the Imap-server is part of the problem (at least procmail seems
partly to blame), but anyway, maybe someone has a hint in this group.



So: calling fetchmail, procmail itself produces an error, and it states:

So, actually I successfully contact the server, I actually fetch the email
(they are flushed, if I specify that as fetchmail-option) and delivered
locally and processed by procmail, but this error message appear.

That procmail complains is no wonder, as indeed I have no rights to
create /var/mail/<user> (and I cannot change that),
but how can I avoid that error?

I want to get rid of that, perhaps the other problems are consequences of
that.
