Sorry...I've been staying at a friend's house, taking care of his
animals while he's gone, and haven't been able to keep up with things.
You should see me (I'm *not* a farmgirl) chasing around trying to care
for several kinds of ducks, wild turkeys, a couple of different kinds of
bunnies, miscellaneous varieties of chickens (including a mean banty
rooster who is determined to vanquish me--I am NOT going into the
chicken pen again wearing sandals; he's got a mean beak), three dogs,
and I don't know how many goldfish. Last night there was a message on
the answering machine from the feed store--his guinea (sp?) chicks are
in ready for pickup 200 miles (300 km) away, and I have no idea what I
would do with them if I could get them picked up.

This morning one of the gates fell off the fence and I was running
around the yard trying to shoo chickens and a rabbit back where they
belong, and 2 days ago some unknown predator killed one of the ducks. I
think it had to have been a weasel because nothing bigger could have
gotten in. Yikes! I had no idea what I was letting myself in for.
