That's simply not true.

Not so. If you chose any one of the AppleDouble, AppleSingle, or BinHex
encoding options in Eudora, the attached file contains all of the
resource fork and HFS+ metadata of the attached file and it can be
recovered completely by any mailer that supports those standard encoding
methods. AppleDouble is the most widely supported of those three, since
the most common failure mode for MIME-aware mailers that don't really
understand it is to essentially ignore the metadata and any resource
fork and just handle the data fork attachment, which is approximately
the correct behavior anyway in most cases. I believe it is only the
garbage mailers from MS that have the problem of 'missing' AppleDouble
attachments.
