CRC hardware vs software implementation!!

Hello all,

I want to compare between CRC in hardware(using shift register &
X-OR's) and software(ploynomial & checksum) implementation by giving an
example in both to show the difference between them .
I do know the concept of both but unfortunately i could not do so....
anyone can help plz?!!
