Hi rush,
Today, my framework do not make use of special features of DNG.
If you are using Dolphin, most of the functionality of the framework
can be used (e.g. text extraction, image and lineArt objects query,
etc [*]).
Not needed to wait, DNG will have a compatibility release with
Dolphin6 soon; adding features.
If you need to process information stored in PDF files in your
applications, it is possible to start now with your Dolphin
environment.
As usual, time has a cost; and in this case is a pitty to wait in
bussiness for a new platform. Smalltalk is the platform to avoid
premature obsolescence of software, so it is natural to start in any
platform and perform planned migration using time (never waiting for
"the next release").
regards,
Ale.
[*] I work driven by customer requests; the features that are are not
available today for Dolphin or VWorks, are simply because no customer
asked for that. There is no technical reason that inhibit to run in
Dolphin nor any other Smalltalk platform. I define the cost of the
framework based on the percentage of code that is given at release
time; it means, the cost for Dolphin implementation is proportional to
the functionality implemented in the platform.
