Re: Ghostview (latest version) won't work

That's funny. Why, if you are a regular here as well, did I only see
you here right after you flamed me in another froup?

Because you are a newcomer here? Google group search exists. I
happen to be maintainer of AUCTeX
<URL:http://www.gnu.org/software/auctex> and in particular main author
of preview-latex
<URL:http://www.gnu.org/software/auctex/preview-latex.html>, and
preview-latex contains considerable parts of PostScript programming,
since it internally uses Ghostscript as a daemon both in PostScript as
well as in PDF mode.

So if you are capable of using Google Groups search, you should have
no problem finding me participating in this group, asking questions,
discussing code, and also giving answers.

Well, so why didn't you killfile me? From your invectives it seems
you find me annoying.

See below.

[insult deleted] I already explained that I killfiled you in
comp.text.tex.

A statement that makes no sense. Either someone is killfiled, or
they are not. You don't killfile people in specific groups but not
in others -- there's no point, unless net.stalking is your aim.

Oh, there is a point: that's the default in my newsreader, and it
usually is a sensible default. You'll find that people interacting
with disjoint environments develop independent traits of behavior in
each of them. So people that have turned out to be intolerable in
interaction with the residents of one group might still be worthwhile
participants in another.

In particular if things go really bad in one place, there is a chance
that a person will learn a lesson for the next place.

It is likely that I'll end up doing the same in
comp.lang.postscript, too, but certainly not in order to have you
spread lies about me.

Lies? Oh really? Funny, because part of my reason for not killfiling
*you* is to keep an eye on whatever nasty things you might be saying
about *me*. Making it easier for you to do so behind my back
wouldn't be smart, given your evident penchant for publicly defaming
whoever you decide you don't like.

I am certain that you will be able to come up with even a single quote
to support your claims.

If it has not yet occured to you, I _have_ behaved civilly...

Bull***. You accused me of lying and defamation, called me an
idiot, and were generally unpleasant in the posting I am responding
to. And that's just *one posting*.

Try supporting this claim of yours with an actual quote, and then
compare it with all the nonsense you have been spouting about me.

Alas, would it were that easy. I have actually asked people in other
newsfroups (plural) about alternatives, and have yet to hear of any
that didn't turn out to fail at least one of these three criteria:
* You are not required by the AUP to post exposing a functioning email
address (unmunged).
[...]
* You don't actually have to pay money
[...]
* Carries the groups I regularly read and lets you post
[...]

You are confusing newsreaders with Usenet servers. Kill files are a
property of the newsreader, not of the server. Reading Usenet with a
web interface is pretty much the least useful way.

None of the first few Google hits met all three criteria either. A
surprising number had the gumption to actually want money, for what
has traditionally come for free with internet access, even lowly
dial-up.

"traditionally come" needs to get paid for, too. It can be by
advertisements in various degrees of obnoxiousness. Sometimes a
minimal investment is the better alternative, sometimes one can find
other sources. But they don't tend to announce themselves too
aggressively since they are not turning a profit.

Anyway, I strongly suggest changing your attitude of blaming everybody
else for the problems you experience, both with technical as well as
personal issues.
