rs232 in labview

hello fellows,
im currently trying to figure out how to make a mass spectrometer
communicate with a pc via rs232. unfortunately the visa drivers are
reported not to function properly, so can you tell me how to work it
out? would be nice if you could leave a link to code that is supposed
to WORK or sample code in the manual.
