own, rather than kill the nice peculiarities of soft typed JS to get

Because one of the two langauges would die off - too much resources to
maintain two branches?
Methinks that improving a language is just for improving,
not for unrelated ends.
It is ASP-to-ASP.NET all over again.
ASP.NET is a vast improvement over ASP! Yes, it was a painful move, but
years later, I haven't heard that much of a complaint.
Perhaps those that still do complain were not into the OO paradigm :-)
I'm sure "classic" Javascript will still be around ... maybe not futher
enhanced?
