Position(s) Summary
The principal purpose of this position is to be an integral member of
a team
that will analyze, design, and detail the architectural structure of
portals
in the healthcare space. This role requires expertise in multiple
areas but
is primarily responsible for designing the best technical solution to
business requirements as requested from the business unit.
Project solution development
Identifies key business and technology drivers that impact application
architectures, such as end-user community requirements, existing
software
distribution capabilities, existing application environment (including
legacy systems), and performance and availability requirements.
Conducts assessments of current business and technology architectures
including:
* Functional assessment, (e.g. end user satisfaction, functional
overlaps/gaps).
* Technical assessment (e.g. platforms, tool proliferation, age of
underlying technologies, uptime/availability, business processes).
* Translates project requirements into detailed designs to be
implemented
while balancing needs for immediate action and the vision.
* Provides guidance to project teams regarding guiding principles,
system
and application design, coding and design standards, best practices,
and
system performance and availability.
* Designs architectures which account for legacy and packaged systems.
Provides knowledge leadership in technology standards and
architectural
governance.
* Provides feedback to Technology Strategy & Architecture, Standard
Owners,
and Standard Owner Delegates on experience in complying with
technology
standards and design best practices.
* Designs external system interface architecture, including
appropriate
application of techniques and standards such as service-oriented
architecture, web services, etc.
* Develops testing strategies to validate functional and non-
functional
requirements and potentially oversees test execution to validate
coverage
and perform causal analysis.
Technical Leadership
Documents procedures and guidelines needed for the development,
installation, and maintenance of solutions.
Ensures solutions meet future business requirements and provides
alignment
with business capabilities.
Identifies and documents any risks, issues or critical success factors
that
might require immediate action.
Maintains and promotes use of appropriate design techniques and
methodologies.
Maintains awareness and promotion of development tools, programming
techniques, best practices, design patterns, problem solving
techniques and
computing equipment.
Clearly articulates status, issues, progress and success.
Demonstrated expertise in a single technology/platform and broad
knowledge
of multiple technologies/platforms.
Strong knowledge about relevant health care industry solutions and
developments for technology within the scope of the portfolio.
Strong presentations/verbal communications skills and the ability to
train
and mentor other technologists or third party vendors.
Proven ability to drive results with emphasis on reducing cycle time
and
increasing speed to market of new products.
Must have ability to actively contribute to the exchange of ideas.
Must have strong business acumen and the ability to identify key
issues and
their impact in a broad business context. Some technical
certification
preferred.
Experience and Education:
Key Technical Competencies
The candidates need to have experience in Spring Framework or AQUA
logic
skills
Expert level on Java J2EEdevelopment knowledge (5+ years on J2EE
applications, 3+ years as a J2EE Architect).
Have substantial hands on full life cycle development experience in a
large
Java J2EE Projects.
Solid knowledge of J2EE design patterns and best practices.
Solid knowledge of UML, Object Oriented Analysis and Design
techniques.
Have first hand knowledge and experience with key software development
concepts like Unit Testing, Agile Development, Refactoring, etc.
Hands-on experience with any two of the prevailed java system
framework like
Struts, Java Server faces, Spring Framework and Hibernate etc.
In depth, hands on knowledge and experience in many of the following
areas
EJB, Servlet, JSP, JSF, JMS, XML, Web Services, JMX and XSLT,
relational
database, LDAP and O/R mapping technology.
Hands-on experience with Sun Java Enterprise System (Web Server,
Portal,
Seebeyond), BEA Enterprise Suite(Application Server and Aqualogic
Enterprise
Service Bus) a big plus.
Healthcare industry experience a plus.
