For what it is worth, I show the situation with Renesas M16C flashing.
To use the fancy debug system, you need a monitor in the flash.
To put the monitor there, you need communication with the flash boot
loader.
If you manage to fool up your flash boot loader, you can resort
to a parallel flash tool.
What you give up using (my) Forth is only the first option.
There are plenty debug facilities within Forth, without an
undocumented communication with a bulky Windows program.
(And you don't need an extra VT100/PC to talk to your Forth)
