Chuck does something similar in ColorForth. There, hex numbers have a
different color as decimal numbers.

You're viewing the hex color as just a prefix. But in ColorForth, color is more about switching to a different interpreter for the word. In that sense, Charles Moore would likely agree with Bezemer's position.

Of course, people should focus best on what is best for them, their problems, and their coding style than justify choices based on any individual.
