Chuck does something similar in ColorForth. There, hex numbers have a
different color as decimal numbers.

The machine code examples that come with the T18 simulator from Intellasys
use $... a lot, but then, they probably aren't written by Chuck himself (at
least the login name for the version control system is "randy").
