ISO/IEC 15145:1997 Forth Programming Language
Every five years, ISO standards must be renewed, revised or withdrawn.
The vote for the Forth Programming Language is coming up, and the US
national body is trying to formulate its opinion on this subject. One
option currently available to us is to vote to "stabilize" the
standard ... which allows to remain unchanged, and indicates that
there is no ongoing work to support it though there is an active user
base that needs it.
The original US group responsible for this, J14, has been disbanded,
and the "parent" group (CT22) must now make this decision. We are
leaning towards stabilization, but I thought it might be interesting
to see what real users think/want!
