Corporate world, maybe but not for a small business.
Put yourself in my position. You have single handedly been
coding applications for years that you now rely upon to run
your business. It would take years to recode all those apps
and what is the justification? Answer.. no real advantage
other than compatibility to the new system.
I agree. Micro$haft are like most major companies. They don't really give a toss about their customers once they have got their money. They live by the rule of built in obsolescence in an attempt to strangle as much money as they can out of as many people as they can. On top of ditching VB6 (and thereby causing untold damage to small businesses) they are also just finishing the process of ditching WinXP. The home edition of XP will cease to get any more security or other updates this year, and the professional editions will soon follow. For something as shot full of holes as Windows, that is an effective death warrant for many users! And you can be sure that in about five to seven years time they will do exactly the same to the people who will soon purchase (or have already purchased) VB.net and the new Windows Vista. It's a never ending circle. The only way to stop it is to get off the Micro$haft magic roundabout altogether!
