It sounds to me like your browser may have been hijacked. Have you tried
downlaoding and running HiJackThis! (the exclamation mark is part of the
name). It's usually pretty good at analysing your system, but it doesn't
actually fix or alter anything. What you do is run HiJackThis! and then post
the large log it produces to a specialist group who will analyse it for you
and tell you what action to take.

Personally I'd be thinking about reinstalling Windows rather than
reinstalling a trojan! Still, you never know, it might just work. By the
way, I don't think you ever answered my question as to whether you had tried
removing the ticks from all startup programs and seeing if that got rid of
it. Have you tried that?
