Hello Mike, Michael B.
When I read the first few lines of my last post before looking at your
replies my eyes nearly popped out of my head thinking I've provoked you. I
wasn't doing that of course as you have both figured out and I'm now
breathing a sigh of blessed relief I didn't say the wrong to you.
The problem with standing in no man's land between two armies seeking to
annihilate each other is that there is is a temporary lull in the exchange
of fire when both sides suddenly realise they can both shoot at the the the
self styled honest broker who may not be trusted by either side. I figure
that is not the case in this case though.
Mike, I have the Google pop up blocker but stuff still gets through.
I'm about to go for broke and try to reinstall the Trojan unless there is
something in the Bleeping Computer's forum under Windows 98SE where I posted
another message. I will restore ibm00001.exe from the Recycle bin and send
it to the Desktop from where I can run it I hope. Fingers crossed! If this
adds "Shell" to the list that Autoruns.exe(downloaded from Bleeping
Computer) lists out I can finally purge this pest from my PC. Otherwise I
will have to think of something else.
However having gotten this far in this message I think maybe before trying
to execute ibm00001.exe I might manifest(not sure if that is quite the right
word?)having wisdom by being just a little more patient and posting a
message to say alt.comp.antivirus for example.
You are the best.
My emotion right now is Whew! thank heavens I didn't say the wrong the last
thing I wanted to do.
Peter.
