Hello Michael,

I recieved an email from a pal of mine in New York State yesterday providing
me this link:

http://start.earthlink.net/article/top?guid=20050928/433a1540_3ca6_1552620050928-382674832

about the first photographs taken of te Giant Squid. I heard about this in a
news bulletin and saw some pictures. However I went to the site and lo and
behold there was a pop up entitled "Privacy Statement". It mentioned
somethig about cookies but I had that bad feeling something was wrong. I
could have interacted with the form in three different way by clicking on
either the OK botton, a checked check box or the close button, the "X" at
the top right hand corner of the window. I figured I didn't dare touch
anypart of the form and tried to drag the window up the screen out the way
by putting the cursor on the top blue bar in the hopes I could read the
website that my pal had gone to trouble of sending me. I couldn't get near
the website behind the bleeping pop up and hit ctrl+alt+del that gave me the
option to "End Task" which I did and ended up back in OE from where I
launched the website in the body of the email.
My thinking is that my system is being hacked because this has never
happened before and that I'm now on some bleeping so and sos radar screen or
one of his bleeping associates just like you are telling me. Very
interesting.
I'm about the spend the rest of the morning familiarising myself with the
website Dag sent me to see what I can do. This is very tricky stuff. One
false move and I'm a gonner!
I've been hearing about Linux for some time now and may at long last install
it on my system. I'm also thinking of asking my ISP to set up a new
configuration(Internet) on my new SR1519UK so that I may disappear from the
hackers's view.
Many thanks for your comments. I've never really used protection over the
last six years and stayed clean for all that time till now because of the
nature of the sites I visit. When I strayed just a little I go caught.
In any event I will do the best I can about a recovery because to me this is
highly educational and if I manage to delete the two malwares I will be very
happy and at that point set up my new and totally awesome PC with a 160Gig
HDD.

Peter.
