Now, that's ironic. Every time I compile my VB6 program, Windows XP tries to call home and tell Microsoft about it. So they've written anti-spyware software with spyware. . .

Yes. The application calling home is the MS DTC Console. Long ago I put a permanent block on any outgoing communication from it, and have never seen any ill effects. Its only function seems to be to send information to M$.
