LOL! I I Love the Deceptive Fake And/Or Stupid Posts on Real Software's Forum

I just these type of posts of Real Software's forum. Here we have either:

a. A noob too stupid to be actually selling software.
b. Someone pretending to be a noob so a favorable post can be made about
Realbasic (I was hoping for one more of those fact polls - I am
disappointed).

Not sure which type it is this time because the post is so bad. Its
alittle hard to actually think an actual person is actually asking for
unbiased opinions on a site totally controlled by Real Software. Please
get a clue - they don't allow people to criticize them on their site
because it might hurt their sales! Duh!

Notice how whenever someone is thinking about buying RB that no one from
Real Software bothers to point them to Real Software's feedback system,
which contains thousands of bugs and problems (at least the ones people
bothered to report). Of course the feedback system does not appear to list
the bugs and problems owners of previous versions of Rb were left with to
forever use.

If this compnay is as honest as it says it is then the first thing they
should suggest is to take a careful look at the feedback system to see if
their some problem, but no they don't do that. nor do they bother to tell
them of their history of removing features which you've specifically
bought RB for, but now can longer use. Hell even if they pointed you t the
feedback system you would have to spend days just finding everything
because you can lo longer pull a msater list of all feedback on one web
page - no, you have manipulate popupmenus to see a few at a time (assuming
you even know what category they are in) - of course this is actually a
convenient way to hide feedback problems.

Hello. I'm investigating the use of REALbasic for my company. We need to
develop a cross platform interface to an online service. I used REALbasic
about 5 years ago when it was only on the Macintosh, and I remember it
being pretty powerful, so I'm interested in looking at it again. I have a
couple of questions that I am hoping the REALbasic community can weigh in
on:

* If your company tried REALbasic for your cross-platform development
needs, what was your experience? Would you do it again?

* How stable are REALbasic applications across Windows, Linux, and Mac
operating systems? Is REALbasic commercial-grade at this point?

* If we encounter bugs in the language/cross-platform compilation, how
responsive can we expect realsoftware to be to our needs?

* Specifically on Linux, have people found that RB applications tend to
work across most common distributions? In one trial, I found it worked on
one Linux system, but crashed on another system that appeared to also meet
the REALbasic system requirements.

I imagine most people on this forum will generally like REALbasic, but I
am still hoping for some candid opinions.

Thanks so much for your time!

I'd like to point out a few things just so you are aware of them.

The REALbasic IDE is now written in REALbasic since version 2005 Release
1.

You asked about having problems and the response. If you are a developer
who is relying on REALbasic then you should definitely join the Developer
Program. There are many benefits to being in the program which you can
learn about here:

Mike, thanks for this information. I will take a look at the Developer
Program.

Hi,

We have used it for our entire IT system in house, and it's worked really
well, and we are using it for cross platform compiles ok.

However there were/are two issues.

First, the database access we needed was not threaded, and that was very
annoying, however we are using OpenBase, and the OpenBase people have an
alternative to the plugin that's almost identical to code to, but it's
fully threaded, and it works very well, and has solved the problem.

Secondly, I want the compiled applications to be intel native on Mac OS X,
and RealBasic have not done that yet. A lot of our internal systems are
running intel iMac's and Mac Mini's. However the software still runs ok
under emulation, but it would be really nice to have them as intel
compiles.

Apart from that, I am exceptionally happy with RealBasic as a business
strength development tool, and I like how I can program without really
being a programmer, but I get cross platform applications, so I can
program in Mac, and get Windows compiles even though I know nothing about
Windows. It's very good, and it runs our whole company.
