I understand the frustrations people have posted on this forum. I'd be lying if I sad I have experienced some of them myself. But I realize that RealBasic is a small company that does a remarkable job compared to mega-corps like microsoft. The RealBasic environment has bugs, but then Microsoft released VB.NET unfinished... and with lots of bugs. It's taken Microsoft nearly 4 years to make the Visual Studio.NET development environment stable, and it still needs work. RealBasic on the other had has managed to pull together a decent professional project with one tenth of one percent of the development team Microsoft has. And I applaud them for it.

Well put.

The stability improvements made between the first version of RB2005 I tried in late May 2005 and RB2006r1 are like night and day. Problems still remain but I am pleased with the progress and have been assured that bug fixes are a top priority.

Rather then proclaiming that RealBasic has abandoned the Mac community and throwing your hands up and walking away, perhaps it would be more useful to gather everyone's concerns and complaints about the product and submit them to RealBasic in a clear, less dramatic, format.

The main complainer here has been contacted and asked to participate in improving the product but declined. I great quote I heard last year went something like "government is done by those that show up". With a small company like RS it is the same. If you want to have any part of how RB is going to look or work you need to participate.

If you decline participation and instead sit outside and throw rocks you won't get much but rocks thrown back at you.

So let's be a little more constructive here and raise our concerns and suggestions without trying to intentionally antagonize and alienate the RealBasic developers.

I have been told by an RS employee that the tone of this newsgroup is detrimental to their participation. I like the free and open discussion that newsgroups allow but some comments here have gone WAY to far. Hopefully RS can be persuaded to participate here again.

Badgering the RealBasic team until they pull the product from the Mac market will not help that goal.

I don't see RS pulling out of the Mac market. RS and Apple are still each others biggest fans. RS presents at Apple developer conferences and vise versa. Software written on RB is instrumental to the AMX systems that run all the Apple stores.

RS and Apple are almost connected at the hip.
