Wow, there's a show-stopper all right.
Let's see... I open up my browser window so that the nav bar is at the bottom of my screen. Then I slide my window down about 1/4 of an inch so that the nav bar is below the edge of the screen. Hey, ho! If animated text *really* annoys me that much, it's trivial to hide it.
Then, it's more hard to resize the window horizontally, though. .
