The Zeus for Windows programmer's editor has a syntax
highlighting engine that is fully configurable:

It comes pre-configured for these languages:

http://www.zeusedit.com/language.html

and it would be quite easy to configure it to highlight
AWK or any other programming language.

Note: Zeus is shareware (45 free trial).
