Odd CGI problem.....

Odd one here....
2.2.6 Apache on Unix.
CGI program that attempts to return a WMV file.
The media player opens, then gives an immediate error.
If I change the content type header to be "x-application/binary", I am asked what I want to do with the file - I say "save", do so to disk, and I can play it (that is, it is being correctly transmitted)
Any ideas?
