It's not a browser issue, it's a desktop (and thus OS) issue. Firefox
under Windows gets Arial, just the same way that IE under Windows gets
Arial.
Verdana has its own suckage related to x-height. I'd suggest avoiding
it completely.
I have my own question here... if you just say "serif" or "non-serif" (OR, if no fonts in list are installed and you have "serif" or "non-serif" at end of font-list) what font does browser default to? does this vary from browser to browser??
