Have you seen the hundreds of photos aready made of the Mono Lake area and
teh structure in particular? Do any of them give you clues as to what makes
them more attractive, evocative, enticing?
I looked at them before going... and almost didn't go as a result. They
were downright scary in how good they were.
A wise woman (a tenant) then told me "whenever I try to replicate an
expert, I get down on myself and think what a dolt I am. When I try and
do it my own way, I find I am often happy with my work though."
Thus, I went. I rather like this photo I presented here, but I realize
it is not showroom quality. I am not sure exactly what to do to bridge
that gap. Not surprising, since this is (almost) the first photograph I
have taken in 30 years.
I plan on going back to Mono Lake quarterly for the next year to catch
it in different seasons. I am hoping people here can give me some
suggestions on what to do differently next time.
I have had a few good suggestions so far, but am always open to others.
