I am able to load a 38MB tiff of the same image in slightly over 1
second which would imply that I am compute bound and not I/O bound. A
suggestion which I received from another source is to save rather than
open the RAW images, and later go back and open and process the
resulting .psd files. This is a better approach than I have been
using, but nevertheless I will be going out tomorrow to look at new
motherboards and CPUs. I will be looking for a dual bios MOBO like I
have now, assuming they still make them.
