hey markLate reply, I know, but I've been sort of preoccupied and busy with other things.
lol, its so much fun huh? NOT!!!
when i first started with the beta of LW9, i had absolutely no problems with the general running of the app. At about release14, things started to go wrong. i gotta admit, i used LW9 up to R14, on live projects (stoopid i know!). thing is, i was only really using general stuff on it and not really testing anything new out, more getting used to it, before it hit the full release. After R14, it ran like a lame dog, wouldnt install, wrecked my 8.5 install, wouldnt start up, froze, la di da da daaaaa-yawwwwn! i think something was changed with how the hub works at about r14. the advice ive got from newtek, is that i should disable the hub using some -0 switch (whatever the HELL that means!) (ok so i do know what that means but JEEEZUS), and that i should delete my hub config files. Now, am i wrong, or am i being shafted here? this is a fully working, full release of software, that frankly, i run a hell of a lot of moneys worth of business on, and it should damn well work!!!
Anyway, I personally don't buy into the dissabling of the hub bit.
It's usually some other problem and I never could figure out why we are told to shut it off?
It's usually either a straight out bug, or something more common and screwy,
like something confliting with the TCP or something else more normal like that.
You should be getting better answers then what you say you've gotten though.
ok, so it was a free upgrade, but surely other people are having this sh*t!Actually, it wasn't really any free upgrade, I had to pay to go to 9.
Maybe it was in a deal that if you didn't already have the upgrade to LW8, and you did the upgrade
during a certain period that then you would get the free upgrade to 9, but you still had to pay for an upgrade.
The only things that are ever free, are the intermediate update patches, you just skipped a version in the upgrade is all.
I don't know, I guess some people think of it as free, to me it's still money out of the pocket either way LOL
i cant believe im being advised to disable part of the software for it to run. what really gets me going, is that i LOVE LIGHTWAVE. and i feel really really mardy when my toys dont work. theres a guy sat next to me at work, plain sailing with MAX and he keeps giggling at me. He really is gonna take the brunt of this soon!LOL, don't worry, I can understand this setiment.
im sorry i jinxed you - but strangely happy about it too....lol! sorry!
I get a perverted happy feeling when others are in the same pain as me too with software LOL
It's human nature to be glad you aren't the only one having the problems,
even though no one really wished them on anyone else.
BTW, after I completely redid all of my configs (again, as I've done this already a few times)
then everything seems to be working now, though I keep getting the feeling that it's trying
to corrupt something every time I load up Layout, only I can tell what yet?
Just feels like something isn't right, that's all.
But I actually haven't used it much for a little while lately anyway, been busy on other things.
Rebuilding my whole web site finally, after over 8 years of it looking the same way, uhg.
Should hopefully work a lot smoother when I finally finish it up though, at least smoother for me :)

hi mark,Just thought I'd update you.
im not sure of the exact spec, but i think its a quadro (nvidia) card. ive never had any trouble with it at all. its running on a dual 3.2ghz dell, intel p4's i think. ive always stayed away from the ati cards, cos i read so much badness about them! i think the cards called an fx3400 or something very similar. sorry, im at home at the moment, so dont exactly know. my setup at home is very similar, except ive got some card i bought for about £20 an old geforce - i get about the same performance out of it!
i need to get myself logged onto to google groups at work, so i can post there - they seem reluctant to let me use any kind of newsreader software there for some reason. probably something to do with all the firewalls etc.. anyway, best get off to work. i hope someone can hint at what it could be.
cheers for the reply so far!

I too am now having EXTREME problems with my menus and them NOT even showing up!!!!!
What the flip is going on anyway!!!!???
Did you just jinx me or something? LOL (just kidding)
But, I have to keep deleting the LW9.cfg file in order to bring things back to normal.
But!, if I try and load in ANY saved out menu config file, then everything disappears!
What the hell is going on with this BS now anyway?
Things "were" working just fine and I was using my nice (real nice) menu setup.
And now! I don't get to use it, and I guess (uhg) that NOW I have to go and "redo" the
stupid thing all over again from scratch and hope! that it will actually work this time around?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, time to see what the flip is going on, but to me, it sure as heck looks like a bug,
considering these are configs I've been using this whole time with no problems untill now?
Can anyone else try saving out a config and then setting your menus back to default and
quitting out and starting over and loading back up your saved menu config and see what happens?
Or better yet, try loading a saved out menu config that you made before, and not with the current version?
But!, I DID make this config with the current version installed, soooo, it "should" work like usual.
Thanx....................md :)
