Re: OT- building a lightwave website

I've gone back to the 'coffeecup' stuff and had a little bit of success.
They have a newer, non code, visual website creator and a seperate flash
photo album creator that I managed to get working together to make a little
test webpage that published, uploaded and worked...hurray. They also have a
video player thingy and a blogger scripter wotsit, so they're next on my
list. I can see these guys are really trying hard to make this process less
than impossible for thick sods like me but it's still all a bit fiddly.
Coding html feels like returning to childhood and trying to bash out a text
adventure on a commodore 64....except that was fun.

Personally I like notepad, and doing all the scripting by hand, maybe it's
why I don't have a website of my own. I have made a few websites for
other people, and I do have a Website Production Certificate IV.

I like getting my hands dirty :-)

This is silly. Is there no easy software out there to create a website
with a blog, a slideshow and a video page without trying to figure out
how you paste code into an html page. As far as I can figure out from
the demo of Flash 8 it's for making little animations for advertising
banners and such....and flash video too. I've uninstalled it...it wants
you to dedicate your life to learning an overcomplicated interface to
produce little cartoony animations...it's a deadend for the brain. Even
if I could master Flash in five minutes you then have to put that into
the code of your webpage which I don't know how to do without learning
html. Every goddamn package from Dreamweaver, Flash, Go Live, etc etc
requires you to know how to paste the code into a webpage's html code and
I don't know how you do this without setting aside months of my life
learning html. I've spent 2 days reading about html coding and
understand you have a <html> tag, a <title> tag and a <body> tag and I
should paste code thats these programmes generate in the <body> tag
section, which I do....but nothing works.....errors. I don't want to pay
others to do it, I want to know how you do it so I can manage and update
my site. Every template I've seen (gone through hundreds) seem to be 'my
company' type things with a few link buttons. I thought this would be
much easier to understand than 3d software.....how wrong could I be. I
must be missing some simple trick here, website designers are 10 a
penny....am i that thick....don't answer that ;)
