If you want a low-cost, hi-speed, stop-gap system you might want to have a quick glance at this article on Tom's Hardware:

Failing that, a quick browse through the systems on offer through the Dell Factory Outlet on their site or their eBay outlet (both of which still ship with full 12 warranties) might produce a better and/or less expensive system. There are currently several D820 and D920 systems at the Factory Outlet for less than £600 + VAT with graphics cards ranging from Ati X600 through to one with an nVidia 7800GTX. Add in £200 ish for a D950 cpu and they still come in below the cost of the deal you've been offered. I've just bought a D930 based system through the eBay route for £580 inc VAT and shipping and its really pretty good. I haven't been impressed with Dell in the past but this latest box is just fine.

As for speed, the article on Tom's Hardware includes some useful benchmarks for dual core cpus. All I have to do is find the money for one of those D805 cpus as they look like being a lot of fun to play with :-)) Hm...4.1GHz dual cpu with water cooling !!!!!
