Re: Freeing memory....

Thanks DarkScience and Jim for your replies - sorry for the tardiness of my response.

I have double checked my system and it is free from Virii and scumbag-ware (it's the people that are the problem - not the innocent code! :)

I am also running Firefox and it takes a chunk of RAM - was not aware of the leakage issue so thanks for that I will keep an eye on it.

Cheers for your help guys.

If you are running Firefox then it might a culprit in messing with your available memory. Apparently there are some memory leak issues with how Firefox caches web pages. Memory is not freed up when the cache is cleared, in fact the memory isn't even released when Firefox is closed down. Only a reboot clears it up.

Hi all,

I don't know about anybody else but when I am working on a heavy scene and hit F9, sometimes LW complains about not having enough memory for it's centre buffer (or something) - even after killing other apps and Fprime. At that point, I save the scene, re-boot and I can load the scene and all is well - for a while anyway.

It strikes me that this is a memory fragmentation issue which gets sorted on reboot. (I could be wrong!)

Can anybody recommend an Windows XP 32-bit application that can defragment/tidy up (or whatever) the memory so that I can do a render without hitting the restart?

System is: AMD Athlon 64 dual core, 2Gb RAM, Win XP 32-bit, Geforce 7800gtx.

Many thanks
Steve
