Re: testing... again

Well, sadly, one thing I've totally determined is, that Norton is at least,
and major part in my sending and recieving emails.
Cuz when it's installed, nothing works.
When I uninstall it, everything is back to normal.
Gonna have to research what's up with that at the Symantic site.
I think though, I want to start trying out some render tests for now and worry `bout this other BS later :)
Thanx all...................................md :)

OK, just now got all three SATA drives running and I'm keeping my fingures crossed.
basically, it turns out, that this system runs exactly like the olden days (10 years ago) when
I used to run WinNT 4.0 and I had to install one little part at a time and sometimes keep trying
different attempts for each part installed..... slow as all get out, that's for sure LOL
Also, Cox Cable and my ISP guys don't know didly and WON'T help if you aren't using their
exact software, and I finally had to FORCE the answer out of the Cox guy, as I alreaday suspected
what the problems were with that but just couldn't narrow it down until today, but it had to do with the Firewall.
Once I fixed that, emails comes through and I assume I can send out as well, but haven't tried it yet.
But it should work just fine.
I tell these people, look, it doesn't matter which software I'm using, the info is still going to be the same,
but they refuse to work with you to at least attempt to see if they can resolve or give you
some tips on what you might want to try? But nope!

Anyway, gonna start installing apps and hope things stay working.
This SATA setup, sure is picky, is all I can say.

Thanx all for your tips and advice/suggestions :)
Hopefully, I'll actually be done with this by tomorrow and can do some render test, which I'm dieing to see.
But, first I need to figure out how to set the RAm to the speed it's supposed to, which is 400,
not the 333 that it's running at now on, set to Auto in the BIOS.
Never adjusted ram before, that I can remember?
That'll be fun, oh joy :)

I feel your pain!

I know this area of the BIOS is rather tricky. When I've had the no NTLDR it
was because the system was try to boot from another drive. It sounds like
you have the SATA drives switched. You might find a simple solution...like I
did after much frustration...in the BIOS...particularly the BOOT ORDER. This
was new to me too! You might simply have to set your first SATA harddrive as
the first boot device! I hope this is the solution.

Nope.
None of that RAID bit.
I thought of that too and made sure I wasn't.
At first, sometimes when I would connect the second sata drive, it would
work fine.
But then when I would do a reboot, that's when the first sata drive
would either, not show up at all, or I would get the standard, NTLDR not
found crap, which also would happen even if I didn't have another drive
hooked up. So, I tried other connectors to connect to, as they give you
four.
Same sort of things happened there.
I finally shut off a view things and now I haven't had that NTLDR
problem or the not finding the C drive problem again, but I also haven't
tried connecting the second drive back up, cuz every time i do all those
bad things seem to start happening all over again, and i'm toooo tired
of redoing everything at this point.
I'm gonna give it one more try this morning and see what happens.
If? after that it screws up again, I'm taking it in to the shop and let
them deal with this nonsense as it would be worth the 60 bucks to get
rid of this friggin headache and just get back to normal life!
I've been at this since last Monday, well, partly because I had to wait
on one more part to come in, which was a monitoring device which works
like a charm.
Right now, I'm more pissed off about this stupid bit of not being able
to send or recieve any emails into and from my email programs.
What the flip could that even be going wrong with that anyway!!!!???
I HAVE ALL the settings the EXACT same way as my other program, yet I
get that same message every time about I'm not using the correct smtp BS
or my connection isn't working or some other BS like that, yet obviously
all these things ARE working, or I wouldn't be on the net in the first
place.
I think though it can only be one thing, but have no clue as to how to
fix it, and that's it has to do with my ID setup or something for my
email stuff, since I have no problems with browsing the net and I have
no problems with posting to this news group, but that's because I'm
using a different address for sending out then I am for recieving, which
BTW, is how I've always had it, i.e. smtp.west.cox.net which is where I
get my newsgroups from as well.
I'm just gonna have to try setting my outgoing to the PoweWeb people's
bit and hope for the best is the only thing left to try, even though
none of this makes any sense, again, like I say, it's ALLLL exactly the
same settings as on my other computer and everything worked perfectly
all this time on that system.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....................................

......................................

I just want to get on with life for Pete's sake!
I haven't even installed most of my programs yet, because of these
idiotic issues, cuz whats the pint, if I have to keep runing the risk of
haveing to do another format or some other crap like that again.

thanx.....................md :) <---- see, I'm smiling, not cuz I'm
still happy, but cuz I've already lost it and I'm a loony now!
If I had hair, I'd be running around in circles pulling it out laughing
and all, bwah hahahahahaha!! LOL
Anyway, back to it, I guess?

Are you perhaps setting it up in RAID mode or do your want a RAID

Ummm, actually, you CAN email me, I just can't use my email programs for
email.
I can send with this very same email program I'm using right now to post
here,
I just can't do the same with emails.
And also, I can't use other email programs, like Outlook or whatever.
I checked the settings on my other computer, and everything is all the

same!

Sure hasn't been much fun getting this new AMD64 system up and running,
that's for sure.
Uhg.....................................md :(
I can't even seem to get a second SATA drive installed, as every time I
try,
then it ruins my SATA C drive and takes me hours to get it back up and
running again.
And I've been at it for litterally days (and nights, all night).
I've built all my other systems and never ran into these kinds of
problems before, so I'm stumped.
Thanx! :)

OK, see, now this is just weird!
Anyone who's an expert out there, can you help me out?
If I can send a message to the newsgroup, then WHY on earth can't I
send messages out like emails OR recieve them?
Thanx..............................md :)
PLEASE reply here, since I won't be able to do email until it's fixed.

Just letting those who have sent me emails know, that I'm getting
them, but I still haven't figured out how to get my email to recieve
or send yet.
I'm having to use the stupid web based email, which I hate.

Anyway, lets see if THIS post gets through or not?

and thanx also everyone..................md :)
