Re: test just reinstalled my OS

You are looking for *.dbx files for your email (mine are in; C:\Documents
and Settings\David\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{D9AEA556-F8E8-45E8-9C5C-BBCFA2E5D9C5}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express )

The address book is a *.wab file (mine is in; C:\Documents and
Settings\David\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book )

This is on a Windows XP machine. They do appear
in different locations depending on the operating system.

I never reformat a drive with valuable data on it, just to
rebuild a machine. My preference is to move the old
drive to a different address (for instance; "secondary slave")
then I put in a new drive as the "Primary Master" and install
the new OS on the new drive. That way you still have ALL of
your data, and can even return that drive to the "boot position"
if you need to get back to the old system.

After you have successfully used the new system for a while, you
can retire the old drive to the shelf, or reformat it.

YMMV
